China on Monday expressed condolences over a massive fireworks tragedy at a temple in Kerala that left over 100 people dead and nearly 400 others injured.

“We express our condolences to the victim and sincere sympathies to the bereaved families. We hope that the injured have a speedy recovery,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang told a media briefing here.

At least 108 people were killed and 383 others injured in the explosion on Sunday at the Puttingal Devi Temple near Kollam sparked by a stray firework.

Mr. Lu said there was no information about injury of any Chinese citizen in the incident.
