Chidambaram reviews security in Mumbai

September 13, 2011 02:12 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:31 am IST - MUMBAI:

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Monday held a high-level meeting here and discussed the security issues post-July 13 blasts in the city.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Home Minister R.R. Patil, Anti Terrorism Squad chief Rakesh Maria and senior officials were present.

While no official was available to confirm what transpired at the meeting, it is believed that security issues were discussed. Mr Chidambaram was briefed on the Mumbai police preparedness to respond to bomb blasts.

There was some talk of the July 13 blasts case being handed over to the National Investigation Agency from the ATS. However, Mr. Maria has recently denied that there is any such proposal.

Now, the pressure is on the Union Home Ministry to transfer the Mumbai blast case to the NIA.

The September 7 Delhi High Court blast case probe has been entrusted to the NIA.

Unconfirmed reports said one person was arrested in the July 13 blasts case.
