Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram was being hunted down for speaking the truth, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in a series of tweets on Wednesday morning.

Expressing full support for Mr. Chidambaram who is facing arrest in two cases related to alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance for the ₹3,500 crore Aircel Maxis deal and the ₹305 crore FDI in INX media when he headed the Finance Ministry in 2007, Ms. Vadra said that the Congress would stand by him and would continue to fight for the truth no matter what the consequences were.

“He unhesitatingly speaks truth to power and exposes the failures of this government, but the truth is inconvenient to cowards so he is being shamefully hunted down,” Ms. Vadra said in a tweet.
