A Delhi court on Tuesday framed charges against expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and others for allegedly framing the Unnao rape victim’s father in an Arms Act case and for his alleged murder in judicial custody last year.

Bail cancelled

The court cancelled the bail of three Uttar Pradesh police officers allegedly involved in the cases. They have been sent to judicial custody. The charges have been framed against 10 accused, including them.

The alleged incident took place on April 3 last year, when the girl’s father was taken to the local police station after an altercation and an FIR lodged against him for allegedly possessing a country-made firearm and four live cartridges. He was sent to judicial custody, during which he died on April 9, 2018.

Brain mapping tests

On Tuesday, the driver and the cleaner of the truck that had collided with the victim’s car in Rae Bareli last month underwent brain mapping tests in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar. They are being made to take the tests on court directions.

The victim and her lawyer were seriously injured in the collision and her two aunts were killed last month. Following allegations that it was not an accident but a deliberate attempt on her life, the local police registered a murder case.

The case was subsequently transferred to the CBI for further investigations, after which the agency constituted a special team. The Supreme Court had earlier directed it to conclude the probe within a maximum of 14 days.

The girl is currently under treatment at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences
