Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has informed Chief Minister Jayalalithaa that he has asked Central authorities to share information about the private visits of Sri Lankan VIPs and other dignitaries to Tamil Nadu with the State government beforehand.
His reply of March 11 was in response to the Chief Minister's letter of March 7, 2012, in which she had stated that it would be appropriate if the State government was given prior intimation about the visits.
The Chief Minister highlighted the difficulties faced by the State government owing to frequent visits by Sri Lankan officials, Army officers and VIPs to Tamil Nadu without informing it.
The Prime Minister said, “I am asking our authorities to bear your views in mind when they handle such visits in future and to share such information as they may have about such visits with the Government of Tamil Nadu beforehand.”
