CBI books three IPFT leaders, many supporters

The Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI) has lodged an FIR against three leaders and several supporters of the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) in the case of alleged murder of journalist Santanu Bhowmik . Mr. Bhowmik was killed in September last year while covering a tribal agitation at Mandwai.

In the FIR lodged on June 29, the agency has booked three leaders of the IPFT along with 300 to 350 supporters under section 120 B ( criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly), along with other sections of the Indian Penal Code. The CBI has named IPFT leaders Balaram Deb Barma, Amit Deb Barma and Dhirendra Deb Barma in the FIR.
