CBI books 18 in Vyapam case

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday registered a case against 18 accused for alleged irregularities in the recruitment of forest guards in 2012 through Vyapam.

The agency, which has not yet revealed names of the accused, has invoked various provisions under the Indian Penal Code and the Madhya Pradesh Recognised Examination Act.

Another preliminary enquiry has been instituted to probe the unnatural death of Brijesh Rajput (25) in Jabalpur on October 22, 2010. He was reportedly enrolled with the Rajput Veterinary College. The Madhya Pradesh police had listed him as ab accused in a Vyapam-related case filed in 2013.

The CBI on Monday registered a corruption case against former Madhya Pradesh Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma and his former Officer on Special Duty Om Prakash Shukla, besides the then Controller of Examinations Pankaj Trivedi, Systems Analyst Nitin Mohindra and former Assistant Programmer C.K. Mishra.
