Buffer stock of fertilizers for rabi crops

With the diversification of their operations, the cooperative societies in Rajasthan have started creating a buffer stock of chemical fertilizers for rabi crops this year. The Rajasthan State Cooperative Marketing Federation (RAJFED) has also launched new measures for agricultural subsidy and formation of self-help groups.

Naresh Pal Gangwar, Principal Secretary, Cooperative Department, said here on Thursday that 2 lakh metric tonnes of urea and 1 lakh metric tonnes of diammonium phosphate would be stored for timely supply to farmers. The fertilisers were being procured from Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative, Indian Potash Limited and Krishak Bharati Cooperative.

He said the RAJFED, would shortly construct new warehouses.
