BSF told to give fitting reply to truce violations: Rajnath

Reiterating India's position on border security vis-a-vis ceasefire violations, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday told a gathering of BJP workers that the Border Security Forces have been told to give a bold reply to continuing Pakistani violations of the ceasefire on Kashmir border.

“We all know where terrorist come from,” he said, pointing at Pakistan, and adding “We can change friends but not neighbours. Pakistan has the habit of creating tension on border. So I have told the BSF to give befitting answers to the neighbours if they indulge in ceasefire violations.”

Mr. Singh credited Indian diplomacy for prompting the United States and the UAE to warn Pakistan to stop encouraging terror activities on its soil. Claiming that the NDA government had succeeded in effectively tackling internal security issues, Mr. Singh said the Maoist activities in the country had reduced by 30%. He also claimed that the morale of such elements had taken a beating following stringent action by the government. He praised Prime Minister Modi for his initiatives in boosting foreign direct investment and claimed the FDI had increased by 48 per cent. He also thanked ex-servicemen for ending their stir, and congratulated them for One Rank One Pension scheme announced by the Centre on Saturday.
