The bonhomie between the Bench and the Bar was evident on Monday when Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana and senior Supreme Court judges took a round of the court corridors.
The two sides of the coin of justice administration were meeting after a gap of two years of the pandemic.
The court had stopped full–fledged physical hearings in March 2020 as the infection spread.
However, the court made it sure that it functioned every single day through the pandemic. It perfected a virtual system of hearing which allowed lawyers and litigants from every part of the country to appear and argue their cases from the safety of their homes.
Many who were an integral part of the institution had died during the period.
Monday marked the victory of a resolve to overcome the odds and tragedies of a global disease.
“Today, after a gap of over two years, the Supreme Court proceedings resumed in full physical mode. It may be recalled that, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical hearings were replaced by virtual hearings,” a statement issued by the Supreme Court on Monday said.
