BJP man held for stoking ‘enmity’

A BJP office-bearer has been arrested for allegedly attempting to create “enmity” between communities through a post on Facebook.

Santosh Kumar, belonging to the party’s South 24 Parganas district unit, was arrested by the State’s CID on Sunday. Confirming Mr. Kumar’s association with the BJP, a CID official told The Hindu that “Mr. Kumar was involved with BJP.”

Distancing Mr. Kumar’s views from that of the BJP’s, the party’s district president said: “Mr. Kumar was removed from his post on August 9 whereas the alleged conversation took place on September 25. So, BJP has nothing to do with what he said.”
