Athlete death: Expanded team for SAI probe

The police case was that the students had attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous fruit.

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday said an expanded team would help investigate the circumstances that led to the death of one student and hospitalisation of three others at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Alappuzha.

The police case was that the students had attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous fruit.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Merin Joseph will head the probe. Three sub-inspectors, two assistant sub-inspectors and a woman civil police officer will aid her.

“Out of critical stage”

Alappuzha Staff Reporter adds:

The SAI trainees have been declared as ‘out of critical stage’ by doctors at the Government T.D. Medical College Hospital in Alappuzha.
