Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur has been appointed the BJP’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha.

The appointment was announced on the eve of the monsoon session of Parliament with Mr. Thakur replacing Ramesh Singh, who has been appointed Madhya Pradesh BJP chief and is preoccupied with the Assembly elections there at the end of the year.

Mr. Thakur is a three-term MP and has headed the BJP’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and was also heading the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) before he quit the post.
