YSRCP misleading people on rain guns: Ministers

‘A.P. miles ahead of others in implementing loan waiver scheme’

August 10, 2018 12:08 am | Updated 12:08 am IST - VIZIANAGARAM

Agriculture Minister S. Chandramohan Reddy and Minister for Mines Sujaykrishna Ranga Rao on Thursday said the YSRCP was making false allegations over the proposal to buy rain guns to protect standing crop in the State, particularly in the Rayalaseema region.

They said the party was trying to mislead farmers though the many measures were taken to make agriculture a lucrative activity.

The Ministers interacted with the farmers who got the loan waiver benefit in Vizinagaram district.

Advice to Kanna

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chandramohan Reddy alleged that the Modi government’s ‘stepmotherly’ attitude had become a bane for A.P. He asked State BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayana to take the issue to the notice of the Centre instead of targeting the TDP government.

“Compared with other States, A.P. has successfully implemented the loan waiver scheme in a phased manner by allocating ₹24, 500 crore. We are going to extend the benefit to those who could not get financial assistance from the government under the flagship programme,” the Minister added.

Mr. Ranga Rao said that the government had waived more than ₹500 crore loans of around 2.5 lakh farmers.

District Collector M. Hari Jawaharlal promised to extend maximum help to the farmers who were not covered under the scheme.

Srikakulam Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sobha Swati Rani and others participated in the meeting.
