YSRCP gears up for by-poll

Coinciding with the first anniversary of the YSR Congress party on Monday, the leadership has set its eyes on winning the 17 Assembly seats where by-election is due shortly, to consolidate its position in the State.

The YSR Congress leaders want to make the first anniversary celebrations a low key affair. The party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit the party's central office in Jubilee Hills on Monday and hoist the party flag to mark the occasion.

Party leaders point out that Mr. Reddy has chalked out an elaborate programme for the next few months including continuation of the ‘Odarpu Yatra' in Telangana also. Once he completes the yatra in Guntur some time this month, party leaders are preparing for his entry into Nalgonda district. “Our leader was preparing the cadre to face the municipal elections first. But, indications suggest that the by-election to 17 Assembly seats would be held before civic poll ,” a senior party leader said. The party is also preparing for any eventuality in case Mr. Reddy is arrested in connection with the CBI cases. Leaders expressed fears that Jagan would be arrested before by-election as the Government was desperate to restrict his influence on the electorate.

Honorary president Y.S.Vijayamma is already gearing up to take on the mantle if he is arrested, ,” a central governing council member maintained.
