YSRC to field Y.V.Subba Reddy from Ongole Lok Sabha seat

March 27, 2014 09:11 pm | Updated July 12, 2016 03:48 am IST - ONGOLE:

The YSR Congress has decided to field party Central Governing Council member Mr. Y.V.Subba Reddy from the Ongole Lok Sabha constituency.

The party, which had been toying with the idea of fielding Mr. Reddy, co-brother of late YSR from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constitutency earlier, now has decided to give him the party ticket for the prestigious seat in his native Prakasam district, expecting a stiff fight from the TDP which seemed to be gaining strength in some of the seven Assembly segments, YSRC sources said.

Mr. Subba Reddy, a post-graduate in Business Administration, is a key member of the party think tank.

Sitting MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, who had quit the Congress soon after the bifurcation Bill was passed in the Parliament, kept his cards close to his chest. “I am still in a confused state. I will be taking a decision in a week,” said the MP, who was adopting a wait-and-watch approach as the talks for a poll alliance between the TDP and the BJP remained inconclusive.

Dinesh Reddy eyeing Ongole seat

Meanwhile, BJP sources said former Director General of Police Mr. V. Dinesh Reddy had aspired for the party ticket for the Ongole seat. “The present situation is very fluid. A clear picture will emerge only after a decision on electoral understanding with the TDP is taken and seat sharing talks are concluded,” a senior BJP leader said.
