YSRC seeks withdrawal of GO on land lease

May 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Alleging a hidden agenda in the land acquisition policy, YSR Congress on Sunday demanded withdrawal of GO relating to capital formation, enabling the government to give land on lease for 99 years to private parties.

Objecting to giving lease for 99 years by a government whose tenure would end in the next four years, YSRC general secretary Dharmana Prasada Rao said the maximum period of lease could be 30 years.

He said the fertile lands taken from farmers would be given on a platter to private parties who in turn would mortgage them and obtain loans.

Demanding the government to answer why private consortiums were being encouraged, he said the decisions of the State would come in for review in future and the process of development would be hampered. He wanted all political parties to be consulted as the issue of capital formation was of permanent nature, while the TDP government would be in office for another four years.

On Nava Nirmana Deeksha, he said it has no relevance and charged the government with failing to implement its promises from waiver of loans to housing. The TDP should apologise to the people instead of blowing its own trumpet, he added.
