Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu on Monday hit out at YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, accused the latter of misleading people on Amaravati’s development and land acquisition.
Talking to reporters here, he charged the Opposition parties with creating hurdles in the development of Amaravati. Faulting the opposition for raising a hue and cry over acquisition of huge chunks of land through pooling system, he said a capital did not mean a cluster of buildings and should reflect culture of the State. It should also have social life and other facilities. Mr. Kishore Babu expressed confidence that the Centre would grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, he inaugurated a three-day workshop for officials from various departments implementing welfare schemes. The aim of the workshop was to ensure effective implementation through proper coordination. Referring to the loan redemption schemes for farmers and DWCRA women and other welfare programmes, including pensions, he claimed that the government was spending Rs.65,000 on them and stressed the need for effective coordination between various departments.
