Youth Cong. protests ordinances

January 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - ONGOLE:

Youth Congress activists staged a demonstration here on Friday, protesting against the flurry of ordinances brought in by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government including the one to amend the ‘pro-peasant’ land acquisition act.

The activists led by its Prakasam district Youth wing Convenor G. Raghunath took out a motorcycle procession to the Church Centre, raising slogans seeking implementation of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act in toto, including granting the special category status to A.P. and concessions announced at the time of bifurcation.

It was unfortunate that the BJP, which supported the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, before the elections, chose to amend it to appease corporate houses, at the cost of farmers, Congress city president Sripathi Prakasam alleged.
