Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday participated in the Ugadi festival (‘Vikari Nama Samvatsaram’) celebrations at Praja Vedika, near here, along with his wife Bhuvaneswari and grandson Devansh.

‘Panchanga Sravanam’ was conducted by astrologer Kasibhotla Naga Venkata Parvateeswara Sarma.

Mr. Naidu said he looked forward to a prosperous new year though some forces inimical to the State conspired to obstruct its development. However, he was committed to warding off those elements, he said. The CM exuded confidence that the people would vote for the TDP as the government had spent ₹2 lakh crore on welfare and ₹90,000 crore on the agriculture sector, which continued to be the main growth driver. He insisted that water would be released through gravity from Polavaram by July.
