Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said he would face the “political conspiracy” the Narendra Modi government hatched with the “tacit support” of the YSRCP and the JSP.
Mr. Naidu’s observation came in the wake of the issuance of non-bailable warrant against him in a case pertaining to the agitation staged near the Babli project in Maharashtra in 2010. Addressing a public meeting at Etcherla in the district, Mr. Naidu said he had always strived for the welfare of the people.
‘Let people debate’
“I had fought against the Babli project to protect the interests of the northern Telangana region. We had undertaken the agitation in 2010. But the warrants are issued now. It is nothing but political vendetta. I don’t have any fear in facing the conspiracy. People should debate over the issue,” he said.
Dig at Jagan, Pawan
Coming down on YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and JSP president Pawan Kalyan, he said, “The opposition parties seem to have joined hands with the BJP. But people will reject such parties as the Modi government has done a lot of injustice to Andhra Pradesh.”
The Chief Minister further alleged that the Union government had not extended its wholehearted support to the Polavaram project in spite of its tall claims.
“The Union government is yet to release ₹2,500 crore for the project. It has stopped release of funds for the backward regions. In spite of these troubles, I have been striving for the overall development of the State,” Mr. Naidu asserted.
Earlier, MP P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, and Ministers K. Kala Venkata Rao and K. Atchannaidu thanked Mr. Naidu for allocating huge funds to irrigate more than nine lakh acres in the district.
They hoped that Vamsadhara Phase II and linking of the Nagavali and the Vamsadhara would be completed in one year. They also thanked the Chief Minister for upgrading the Ranasthalam hospital into an area hospital with 50 beds.

MP K. Rammohan Naidu, Collector K. Dhananjaya Reddy, and Joint Collector K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu were present.
Earlier, the Chief Minister performed ‘jalasiri ki harathi’ at the Nagavali near Tamminaidupeta in Amadalavalasa mandal.
