Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Bharatiya Janata Party Government at the Centre will implement in letter and spirit all aspects guaranteed in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Addressing a mammoth audience after laying the foundation stone for construction of Amaravati, the new capital of the residuary Andhra Pradesh at Uddandirayunipalem in Guntur district, Mr. Modi said ‘certain forces’ were trying to create a rift by stoking the fire of animosity after bifurcation. But regardless of what a few political parties said about the Centre’s commitment, the BJP Government would stand by the AP Reorganisation Act and the ‘Naidu-Modi’ jodi (pair) will work together.
Referring to the sacred soil of Parliament and holy waters of Yamuna he brought to the venue to express solidarity with the AP Government’s Neeru-Matti, Mr. Modi said it symbolised Centre’s continuous support to the Andhra Pradesh Government in its journey of development. “Together we will work and touch new heights,” he declared.
Mr. Modi complimented Mr. Naidu for embracing the best practices in the world within a short span of taking charge of Andhra Pradesh State and said ‘urbanisation’ should be seen as an ‘opportunity’ for development rather a ‘problem’ as was being portrayed by some.
He said that political reasons had led to a hurried division of Andhra Pradesh State which had resulted in hard feelings and animosity between the two states. Both the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana must work together and complement each other, he urged.
The Prime Minister had words of praise for the youth of Andhra Pradesh. He said they were intelligent and were occupying important positions across the world and predicted that the State would witness a youth-generated economic revolution in the days to come.
Delegates from Japan, Singapore, Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Nirmala Sitaraman, Andhra Pradesh Governor M. L. Narasimam and a host of others were on the dais.
