YSR Congress Party Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said welfare of the downtrodden would be on top of his agenda after coming to power.

Addressing a massive rally here, Mr. Jagan said he would ensure that every family got an annual emolument of ₹15,000 for meeting expenses of their children’s education and women belonging to BC, SC and minority communities would get ₹75,000 in four instalments. He said ₹25,000 crore would be credited directly into the accounts of women belonging to the Self Help Groups and farmers would get ₹50,000 each under price stabilisation scheme.

Pensions for the elderly would be increased to ₹3,000, Mr. Jagan said seeking mandate for Meruga Nagarjuna, MLA aspirant, and Nandigam Suresh, aspirant for the Bapatla Lok Sabha segment.

‘Ignore freebies’

Staff Reporter in Machilipatnam writes: At Avanigadda in Krishna district, Mr. Jagan advised the voters not to fall prey to the freebies offered by the TDP.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy had to wind up the public meeting quickly owing to various issues including technical glitches in the sound system. Many supporters left the venue before he managed to arrive after a long wait in the scorching heat. The presence of the women was arguably less than 5% of the gathering leaving Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy shocked.

‘Three weeks to power’

“The five-year ruling by Mr. Chandrababu Naidu could not guarantee any permanent structures of the ambitious capital city of Amaravati. In Krishna, the Machilipatnam port and the fly-over in Vijayawada are pending,” said Mr. Jagan.

“A section of media has been sold out to him. However, we have to wait hardly three more weeks to come to power,” he said.

Machilipatnam Lok Sabha segment contestant Bala Shourie and Avanigadda Assembly contestant Simhadri Ramesh were present.

Mr. Jagan announced exclusive schemes for the womenfolk and farmers.

Bridge across Krishna

On a request by the local leaders, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said he would initiate action for the construction of a bridge across river Krishna between Edurumondi and Etimoga in Nagayalanka mandal.

Former MLA Ambati Brahmanaiah’s son Srihari has joined the YSR Congress Party.
