Will arrest Mudragada, if he violates law: DGP

N. Sambasiva Rao, DGP, on Wednesday warned that the police would act tough and would not hesitate to arrest Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, if he violated the law.

“The bandobust at Mr. Padmanabham’s home town Kirlampudi will continue. We will not compromise on maintaining law and order. We request him not to test our patience. We will not keep quiet if he continues to strain our force,” Mr. Rao told The Hindu.

The DGP clarified that the house arrest would continue and the police would not allow any protest without obtaining permission as per the law.

“On Wednesday, about 100 protesters from Simhadripuram village in East Godavari tried to take out a rally. When the police explained them the situation, they got convinced and called it off,” the State Police Chief said and appreciated Harish Kumar Gupta, Additional DGP (Law and Order) and the SPs of East Godavari, Guntur and Krishna districts for controlling the situation without a single police action.

As many as 1,190 persons were taken into preventive custody in East Godavari, Guntur Rural and other districts, Mr. Rao added.
