Technology is advancing at a rapid pace and educational institutions should update themselves to remain relevant in the industry, said William Oaks, Epics, Director at Purdue University, Indiana.
Artificial intelligence
Dr. Oaks, along with the members of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), visited the Amaravati campus of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) on Tuesday.
Pointing out that data analysis and artificial intelligence would play a significant role in the days to come, he said the Purdue University had recently come up with a Chat Analysis Triage Tool (CATT) that could detect the mental state of the people who think of sexually abusing children.
Algorithms
He said tool would help the law enforcement wing filter out and focus on sex offenders most likely to set up face-to-face meetings with child victims.
The CATT, he said, allowed the officers to work through the volume of solicitations and use algorithms to examine the word usage and conversation patterns by a suspect.
Innovative tools
Referring to the partnership with VIT-AP, he said the focus would be on developing innovative tools.
VIT-AP vice-president Shekar Viswanathan, Vice-Chancellor Shubhakar, Registrar Siva Kumar and others were present.
