Villages to be made growth engines: Naidu

January 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:13 pm IST - VELIVENNU (WEST GODAVARI DIST):

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday vowed to transform villages into growth engines through his ‘smart village’ mission.

Mr. Naidu undertook a ‘padayatra’ from Velivennu village to Nidadavole for 18 km.

The padayatra was held in commemoration of the 19th death anniversary of TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao.

Addressing public gatherings at Velivennu, Settipeta and Nidadavole, the Chief Minister unveiled roadmaps for development of villages, which, he said, would draw people who had migrated to urban centres in pursuit of employment to their native places in the near future. Rural areas in the last few years had been witnessing a massive movement of people to cities owing to distress conditions.
