V. Vijay Sai Reddy, financial advisor of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, was released from jail here on Monday after a court for CBI cases allowed his petition for bail on the ground that he was not likely to abscond or tamper with evidence.
Sai Reddy was the lone person to be arrested in the assets case against Mr. Jagan on January 2, but was granted bail by the court on April 13. After the CBI contested the bail in High Court, he surrendered in the trial court on April 23. The High Court, however, allowed him to reopen the bail plea in the trial court as a result of which it was heard again by the latter from April 25 to 27.
Ordering his release, B. Nagamaruti Sarma, judge of second additional court for CBI cases, rejected the apprehension of CBI that Sai Reddy will abscond. The question of tampering with evidence or investigation was also not relevant since the charge-sheet in the case was already filed. Mr. Sarma directed him to surrender his passport and neither leave Hyderabad nor induce, threaten or promise any person acquainted with the case.
