Vigilance officials seize rice worth Rs. 1.6 crore, 3 held

Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) officials on Friday conducted a raid on a rice mill at Chinna Pandraka and seized rice worth around Rs. 1.60 crore.

Mill owner Jallipalli Ravi Kishore, an auto-rickshaw driver Jogi Surendra and mediator Parasa Naga Siddeswara Rao were arrested in the case. The rice was collected from FP shops in the neighbouring villages, according to Krishna District Regional Vigilance and Enforcement Officer (RVEO) Y.T. Naidu. Acting on a tip-off that rice meant for PDS was being diverted, the team, led by V&E DSP G. Purnachandra Rao, Tehsildar Indira Devi and Circle Inspector Suresh, conducted the raid on Sri Jaya Krishna Modern Rice Mill in the early hours of the day.

A constable, Kranthi Kumar alerted the team who tracked the auto-rickshaw, which was proceeding to the mill. They seized 47,690 bags of rice and handed them over to Kruthivennu Tehsildar. A criminal case has been registered.
