The sacred “Vaikuntha Dwaram” at the temple of Lord Venkateswara will be opened in the small hours on December 18.

The passage encircling the inner-most sanctum sanctorum of the hill temple, which is opened only once in a year in connection with the auspicious ‘Vaikuntha Ekadasi’, will be thrown open for devotees after the completion of the pre-dawn rituals. The “divine” passage will be kept open till the midnight hours of Vaikunta Dwadasi on December 19.

Briefing the media, TTD JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju on Tuesday said micro-level planning was being designed for the regulation of darshan lines, supply of free food packets with a focus on sanitation and security. All the important stakeholders such as the engineering, Information and Technology, Annadanam officials and Srivari Seva volunteers had been asked to submit their proposals within the next ten days so as to arrive at a consensus with regard to the modalities to be worked out for the smooth conduct of the festival with a focus on common pilgrims.

Arrangements are also in place for the ‘Pushpa Yagam’ festival that will be celebrated on Wednesday.
