October 12, 2015 03:57 pm | Updated 03:59 pm IST - NELLORE:

With eight dog bite cases reported in a single day in the Atmakur municipal limits two days ago, the district medical officials have rushed supply of vaccine and the situation has been brought under control.

Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivasa Rao has also enquired from the district medical officer about the status of the victims and whether vaccine was being made available in sufficient quantities.

DM & HO A.D.V. Lakshmi said that the Minister had spoken to her on the matter and he was informed about the sufficient availability of the vaccine in the district. “There was no dearth of vaccine in Nellore district and it was being supplied as and when reports of dog bite victims were coming forth,” she told The Hindu.

Majority of the eight dog bite cases reported recently were from Sangham village near Atmakur town. The municipal officials had taken immediate steps to control the dog menace over there and no further cases were reported in the last couple of days.
