Appeals to people to lend their cooperation

The Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Ltd (APCPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director, V. Anil Kumar on Friday said that the department was sincerely trying to ensure that there are no power cuts at night across the State.

Speaking to The Hindu, he said that the APCPDCL was putting its best foot forward and coordinating at a greater plane to manage several issues to ensure that there are no power cuts in the night keeping in view the intermediate board exams besides other exams to be held soon.

“Our primary aim is to ensure that students are not troubled in their academic pursuit,” he said even as he added that farmers were also a priority for them.

He said that the State was facing an unprecedented deficit in power supply on account of soaring demand while the production remained constant due to problems on the fuel supply front. He argued that supply of coal and gas were a problem in achieving even the installed capacity in the State.

Meanwhile, he appealed to the people of the State to cooperate with the government in the current situation until production was stepped up and said it was not just the rural areas that were facing power cuts but even Hyderabad city. “Hyderabad city also faces power cuts of around 3 hours every day,” he said.
