Unexpected developments on the horizon in A.P., TS: Kishan Reddy

‘BJP will form govt. in TS in 2023, emerge as an alternative to YSRCP in A.P.’

Taking pride in the BJP’s emergence as the world’s largest political party, far bigger than the Communist Party of China, Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy has exuded confidence that it would expand its reach to States where it was till recently considered a non-entity.

In the South, the BJP would come to power in Telangana in 2023 and emerge as a strong alternative to the YSRCP in A.P., he has asserted, and sought to infuse courage in the cadres, saying that when the BJP formed governments in States where its vote share was barely one percent earlier, there is no reason why it should not claw back to a position of power in the Telugu States.

“There will be unexpected political developments in A.P. and Telangana in the coming one or two years,” he said while speaking at the party’s membership drive, ‘Sanghatan Parv - 2019’, here on Sunday.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said it was true the BJP bit the dust in A.P., but it should be remembered that elections were held under special circumstances.

Snipe at Naidu

Former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had portrayed the BJP as the villain and made a vain bid to stitch up a coalition of opposition parties instead of setting his house in order. Mr. Naidu paid the price for sailing with the Congress and other “opportunists,” he said.

He pointed out that the fortunes of the Congress plummeted so low that there was no leader who could be called its president.

In what was a reflection of the mutual trust between the Congress leadership and its cadres, 12 out of 19 Congress MLAs joined the TRS in Telangana.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said the Central government was committed to the development of A.P. by helping in the construction of Amaravati, bearing the entire cost of Polavaram project and extending support to various other programmes.

“I have had a close relationship with A.P. for nearly four decades. In my current capacity as the Union Minister, I will do whatever is possible for solving the problems faced by A.P., including the issues to be sorted out with Telangana post-bifurcation,” he said.
