Two siblings were allegedly assaulted after their hands and legs were tied with ropes over a property dispute here at Mallambhupathipalem under Butchayyapeta police station limits in Visakhapatnam district.

Though the incident happened on Tuesday, it came to light after a few videos of their thrashing reached the police on Wednesday, who immediately registered a case.

According to Butchayyapeta Sub-Inspector K. Krishna Rao, K. Venkata Lakshmi and A Lakshmi have been living in Mallambhupathipalem village since the last 20 years. The women claimed that they were given eight acres of land by their father at the time of their marriage.

According to them, two realtors, M. Sattibabu and K. Sekhar, residents of Anakapalle, also own around 20 acres adjacent to their land.

The victims in the complaint mentioned that the realtors on Tuesday afternoon, came to them, when they were in their land and with intention to grab, allegedly assaulted them after tying them to a tree. They even allegedly threatened them that they would be murdered, if they did not vacate the land.

After the accused left the spot, a few locals rescued them. Police said that even the women do not have any records for the land, which is to be verified further.

After receiving the complaint, the police have registered cases under Section 447 of trespassing and a few others on the duo. Further investigation is on.
