In yet another mishap involving pilgrims returning from Tirupati, two persons were killed and three others injured in a rear-end collision with a mini-van at Jagarlamudivaripalem in Prakasam district on Sunday.

Police said the mishap occurred when the car rammed a Tenali-bound mango-laden van from Gudur in Nellore district which had developed a snag and was parked on the side of the arterial Chennai-Kolkata National Highway.

Two died on the spot and the injured were rushed to a hospital in Narasarapet in neighbouring Guntur district, police said.
