Two held, stolen jewellery worth Rs. 60 lakh recovered

Two persons were arrested and stolen jewellery worth Rs. 60 lakh was recovered from them in connection with a theft at a jewellery store in Mandapala Veedhi here on Thursday.

SP Gajarao Bhupal said the theft was committed when the jewellery store owner and his attendant were away from the shop for a few minutes. CI Baji Jan Syeda and his team caught the offenders and recovered the jewellery.

The arrested persons were identified as Vadlagunta Tulasi Ram and his relative V. Sudhakar. Tulasi Ram was charged with stealing the jewellery from Sabarinath Jewellers owned by Konda Srinivasulu.

The accused was stated to have worked at the jewellery store in the past. He later moved out and set up his own store.

Recently, Tulasi Ram visited Srinivasulu’s store for some purchase.

He was charged with committing the offence when an attendant, who was alone there, went out on some work.
