Two persons were electrocuted in Kadapa city and a girl student and a lamb died in a wall collapse in Railway Kodur town in rainfall-related incidents in Kadapa District early on Monday morning.

A housewife Venkatalakshmamma, 40, of Sankarapuram, who came out of her house to fetch milk was electrocuted when she stepped into water stagnant on the road. A private company employee Srihari, 35, who found Venkatalakshmamma lying in water and tried to help her was also electrocuted.

An overhead electric line snapped and fell into the water stagnant on the road in Sankarapuram at around 10 p.m. The electricity officials were alerted about it but none turned up to rectify the problem, Lakshmi, a relative of Venkatalakshmamma said. The electric wire that snapped and fell into water was not visible and negligence of electricity officials caused Srihari’s death, his sister Krishnaveni said.

Kadapa Municipal Commissioner V. Chandramouleeswara Reddy visited Sankarapuram and spoke to relatives of the bereaved. Chinna Chowk police registered a case.

Meanwhile, Bathula Devi, 11, died in Lakshminagar in Railway Kodur town when a side wall of her house collapsed in the wee hours of Monday. The girl was studying sixth standard in a Government school at Lakshminagar. A lamb also perished in the mishap.
