The Crime Control Station (CCS) police on Monday arrested three accused in connection with two cases and produced them before the magistrate court.
In one case, the two accused stole gold bricks worth ₹24 lakh from their close relative’s gold refinery unit, while in another case, the accused who had deceived unemployed youth to the tune of ₹3.85 crore was caught for stealing a car and two motorcycles.
Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunni, at a press conference here, charged Prasanth Jadav, 19, and Susanth Jadav, 23, both natives of Karvy village of Vitha mandal in Sangli district of Maharashtra, with stealing gold weighing 743 grams from the refinery belonged to their relative Satish Jadav’s workshop located at the Gold Market Centre in the city. He said that Prasanth Jadav had been working as an assistant in the workshop for the last seven years and took a break in January this year. He returned to work in the last month and managed to access duplicate key of the workshop. He left for his village for Vinayaka Chaviti and returned along with his cousin Susanth Jadav during the Dasara days.
Mr. Vishal charged the duo with unlocking the workshop with the duplicate key on the night of October 9 and decamped with the gold. They reportedly kept it in a secret place near the Port Railway Station and planned to sell it off in Bengaluru.
The proprietor lodged a complaint and the CCS police commenced the investigation. “Our personnel successfully caught the duo while they were planning to leave for Bengaluru by train. The booty has been recovered,” he said.
One arrested
Referring to the second case, Mr. Vishal charged Samavasi Venkataramana alias Vamsikrishna alias Pradeep alias Swaroop, 40, of G. Bhavaram village of Karapa mandal in East Godavari district of stealing a car in Ravulapalem and one motorcycle in Eluru and motorcycle near Bhanugudi Centre in the city in the last two months. The CCS police took him into custody near Bhanugudi Centre and recovered the vehicles estimated to cost about ₹6 lakh.
“During the primary investigation, we have found that as many as 83 cases of property and cyber cases were registered against the accused in eight States, including the two Telugu States, since 2006. In 2008, he had floated a software company and collected ₹3.85 crore from the unemployed on the promise of providing them software jobs,” he said, adding that the accused managed to escape from the police custody twice in 2015 and in July this year.
“Though he is an engineering graduate, he preferred to earn easy money from the beginning and resorted to several white collar offences,” the SP said. Deputy Superintendent of Police of the CCS A. Pallapu Raju and other officials were present.
