Tungabhadra water from November 1: MLC

October 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 03:29 pm IST - KURNOOL:

The State government has issued GO to release 2.70 tmcft of water from Tungabhadra dam in the first phase and irrigation engineers of Kurnool have sent the necessary indent to the TB dam officials on Wednesday, according to MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy.

Addressing a media conference at the TDP office here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said 2,800 cusecs of water would be released every day from Tungabhadra dam to the KC Canal within a day or two.

Though Kurnool district was entitled to get 6.90 tmcft of water out of the 145 tmcft storage in Tungabhadra dam, it would get 5.2 tmcft from the 110 tmcft storage, owing to evaporation losses, Mr. Reddy said.
