: The Telangana government has decided not to go ahead with the proposed Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme of reimbursement of tuition fee for students of professional courses but implement the old system on the basis of local status of students guaranteed by the Presidential Order.

After a portion of the amount was paid recently, it was now decided to clear the balance of Rs. 862 crore while this year’s arrears will be released in instalments.

Rs. 5 crore for Tirumala

Mr. Rao also said he would present ornaments worth Rs five crore to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala as the dream of separate Telangana was fulfilled. Gold ornaments will also be presented to the deity at Bhadrakali temple and Padmavathi at Tirumala.
