TS may get back five to six villages from AP

Five to six villages from the seven mandals of Khammam district which had been annexed to West and East Godavari districts for facilitation of Polavaram irrigation project might be reclaimed by the Telangana State soon.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao revealed this while answering the concerns of legislator Sunnam Rajaiah about his constituency, Bhadrachalam, in the context of the power point presentation on irrigation projects by him on Thursday.

“There is piece of good news for Mr. Rajaiah who suffered loss of constituency owing the annexation of seven mandals in Andhra Pradesh. I raised this issue with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and he responded positively. We may get five to six villages back,” Mr. Rao announced.

Under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Act, 2014, a total of 211 villages of Chintoor, Kunavaram, Bhadrachalam, Vara Ramachandra Puram, Burgampadu, Kukunoor and Velairpadu mandals were transferred to Andhra Pradesh.
