TS govt. set to regularise encroached land

October 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telangana government is set to regularize more encroached land in Hyderabad as it has allowed the district administration to accord titles on lands with departments other than revenue department.

The district administration received 950 applications under GO 59 earlier this year. Only about half of such applications were processed and have been approved for distribution, sources reveal.

Under GO 59, the government would regularize residential structures standing on more than 125 square yards in the district.

“We have received communication to regularize land with other state departments,” district collector Rahul Bojja informed. Applications that were not found to comply with guidelines were categorized as ‘objectionable’. These included some of the lands with other departments. Officials said that those which have not been approved were either found to be private land or under litigation. In Ranga Reddy district however, lands with other state departments are not being regularized yet. Modalities for transfer of such land to revenue are to be worked out. We have not received any communication yet regarding regularization of such lands. Only revenue lands were regularized,” a senior official said.

Regularization under GO 59, which allows regularization on payment, is yet to accrue substantial revenue to the government as beneficiaries are to be notified. Only recently did both the districts complete the selection of beneficiaries who had paid the first instalment of payment towards regularization while making the application in February.
