TRS chief returns to hero’s welcome

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhar Rao arrived here on Wednesday to a tumultuous welcome from people.

Mr. Rao got on to an open top vehicle to lead a mammoth procession to the Gun Park where he paid floral tributes to the martyrs who had laid down their lives for the cause of a separate Telangana.

KTR on merger issue

His son K.T. Rama Rao told mediapersons that a decision on merger or alliance with Congress would be decided at an extended general body meeting of the party. The decision would be taken totally according to the wishes of the party cadres since they had reposed immense faith in the leadership.

Meanwhile, State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy reportedly met party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad and told him the party could have an alliance with TDP in Seemandhra, while going it alone in Telangana.

However, Mr. Modi wanted the party to explore the possibility of having a truck in both the regions.

He was believed to have suggested that the TDP could be a junior partner in the alliance in Telangana and vice-versa in Seemandhra region.

With the party central leadership planning to release soon the first list of the Lok Sabha candidates in constituencies where there are not many aspirants, such seats in Andhra Pradesh were also believed to have figured in the discussion between the two leaders.
