TRS and Congress activists clash

Mild tension prevailed with the TRS and Congress activists clashing when the latter tried to set fire to an effigy of TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao protesting his remarks against Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu, at Telangana chowk in Karimnagar on Tuesday.

Irked over the derogatory remarks made by Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao during the ‘Telangana Janagarjana' meeting in Karimnagar on Monday, the Congress activists led by DCC BC cell chairman Ama Anand and others have decided to be at the Telangana chowk along with effigy of TRS president to set it on fire.

At this juncture, the student JAC leaders Siddam Venu, E Mahender Reddy, Tirupathi Naik also came to the spot to obstruct the Congress leaders' attempts.

However, the police swung into action and arrested the student JAC leaders. Later, the Congress leaders arrived at the spot and when they were setting fire to the effigy, the TRS student wing leaders led by Mahesh, Charan and others snatched the effigy.

In melee, the TRS and Congress leaders clashed and resorted to street fight on the road causing concern for the road-users. The Congress leaders thrashed the TRS leaders.

Again the police dispersed the mob and arrested the TRS student wing leaders. Later, the Congress leaders set fire to the effigy of Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao raising slogans against his remarks.

After some time, the TRS Youth wing leaders led by Katla Satish and others arrived at the Telangana chowk and performed “milk abhishekham” to the portrait of Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao and flayed the Congress leaders.
