: Mild tremors were felt at a few places in Prakasam and Nellore districts on Saturday, sending people into a tizzy.
Tremors were felt in the mandals of Pamur, Veligandla and C.S.Puram in Prakasam district, bordering Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district. In all, six tremors occurred between 8.41 a.m. and 12.45 p.m. in the mandals of Varikondapadu and Vinjamur in Nellore district and in the areas bordering them in Prakasam district.
Panic-stricken people came out of their houses as household articles changed their position.
There was no loss to life or property following the tremors. However, people in other areas did not feel any tremors.
While two earthquakes were of 2.3 magnitude on the Richter scale, two others were of 2 magnitude and yet another two quakes were of the magnitude of 1.3 and 1.2 respectively, CSIR-NGRI Chief Scientist D. Srinagesh told The Hindu .
Last year, a team of scientists visited the affected areas in Nellore district and interacted with the local people. They said there was no need for any immediate panic.
