Union Minister for Steel and Mines Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday asked the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited to focus on improving techno-economic parameters and ramp up production of new units under the 6.3 million tonne expansion project at the earliest.
During his maiden visit to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, he visited steel melt shops, blast furnaces, coke oven batteries and other facilities and held a review meeting with RINL Chairman and Managing Director P. Madhusudan and other senior officials.
Earlier, he witnessed a Power-Point presentation on corporate vision of the VSP to make it India’s largest integrated steel plant on a single location.
Complimenting the RINL for its performance and plans to diversify to remain in the competition, Mr. Tomar said that the company had a bright future ahead. He said that the company should lay emphasis on cost reduction, quality and technological upgrading.
