Municipal chairperson Prasadula Ramakrishna on Sunday directed all shops and establishments to construct toilets in their respective showrooms to avoid inconvenience to customers, particularly women.

Addressing a media conference here, he said that public toilets might not be available in commercial areas and it was the responsibility of the shops to provide such a facility for customers.

He said many women, particularly youngsters, were not drinking enough water so as to avoid the need to relieve themselves when they go out for shopping or for other regular activities. The municipal authorities would impose fines on shops if toilets were not constructed within three months, he warned.
