Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of APSRTC N.V. Surendra Babu on Sunday placed Controller of Stores, Nellore, M. Jagadeesh Babu under suspension with immediate effect pending further disciplinary proceedings.

The action follows an inquiry by RTC ED(Operations) K.V.R.K. Prasad into the controversy surrounding the bus tickets with advertisements offering tours to sites of other religions issued to pilgrims of Tirumala.

The RTC has withdrawn all TIM rolls which have such content on their reverse side. Mr. Surendra Babu ordered an internal probe which revealed that the zonal stores in Nellore received 29,800 TIM (Ticket Issuing Machines) rolls on March 11.

It was asked not to distribute them till further instructions. But it went ahead after the election code was lifted.
