Even as sporadic rain and lightening continued in the State on Sunday, weathermen have said isolated places in coastal A.P. and Rayalaseema are likely to experience thundershowers in the next 24 hours.

“Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of coastal A.P. and Rayalaseema on Monday,” said a report by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

On Sunday, Dhone in Kurnool district received 5 cm of rainfall, the highest in the State, followed by Guntakal in Anantapur district (3 cm), Yerragondapalem in Prakasam district (2 cm), and Paderu in Visakhapatnam district (1 cm).

However, the maximum day temperature hovered over 35 degree Celsius at many places, with Jangamaheswarapuram, Nandigama, Kurnool, Nellore and Tirupati registering 40 degree Celsius or above.

The IMD report said the maximum day temperatures are likely to be between 42 and 43 degree Celsius in some parts of Rayalaseema on Monday.

Cyclone centre warning

Meanwhile, the Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam warned of strong surface winds.

“Strong surface winds from south-westerly direction, with speed reaching up to 45 kmph are likely along and off north coastal A.P. during the next 24 hours,,” the CWC said.
