Burglars struck at three temples and made away with hundi collections at Dwamsalapuram village under Khammam urban police station limits near the town in the early hours of Monday.

Sources said that miscreants gained entry into the Sri Shambu Lokeswara Swamy temple early morning on Monday and allegedly broke open the temple hundi and decamped with the offerings made by devotees.

Miscreants also committed burglary in two small temples — Lakshmi Tirupathamma Temple and Mutyalamma Temple in the same village. However, the extent of loss of valuables, if any, could not be determined immediately.

The Khammam urban police rushed to the village on Monday morning.

A clues team has been pressed into service to clinch a breakthrough in the serial burglary case.
