Three persons, including a five-year-old boy, were crushed to death when a portion of a brick kiln caved in on them on the outskirts of Rajupeta Cross of Kolar district of Karnataka, a few metres away from V. Kota-Hosur national highway in Chittoor district. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

A couple, Basha (65) and Fathima (60), working at the brick kiln, along with their grandson Nayaz (5) were sleeping under a tent under a portion of the brick kiln. As it was raining heavily for the past three days, a portion of the kiln got separated from the mound and fell on the sleeping trio, killing them on the spot. The family was from K.J. Puram of Bethamangala Taluk.
